Vivienne Foley is a multi disciplinary artist.
She is primarily a leading maker of classical and sculptural porcelains. As a master thrower all her work is wheel based and constructed, and finished with a monochrome palette of her own unique glazes. With a long career and an international following she has exhibited 35 solo exhibitions including the V&A. Her work is represented in the permanent collections of the National Museum of Ireland, the Ulster Museum, and several other UK museums.
Recently, to coincide with her move from London to Cheltenham, she has cast a series of bronzes from her original sculptural porcelains, bringing her work forward to an exciting new dimension.
Botanical painting and photography have been life long interests. She has steadily built up watercolour portfolios, and her photographic catalogues for important international exhibitions of Chinese porcelain have been published as unique records.
Vivienne’s association with the Thomas Henry Gallery goes back to 1995 when she first exhibited her ceramics in Dorchester. After a long absence she is delighted to renew a long friendship and see her work in the Newlyn Gallery.
