Patrick Haughton (b.1942) grew up in North Devon. In the early 1960s he commenced architectural studies, but changed direction to study Fine Art at Exeter and the West of England (Bristol) Colleges of Art. He taught for many years, his final post being Head of Kennall Vale School in Cornwall.
He took early retirement from teaching in 1995, and was then able to concentrate full-time on working in the studio. Over the years he has developed a distinct personal imagery; with abstract paintings, relief constructions and mixed media pieces relating chiefly to landscape and occasionally still life.
He has exhibited widely in the UK, with solo exhibitions in Cornwall, Bristol and York and has participated in many group shows in the UK, France and Italy. In 2004 he was artist in residence at “La Grande Vigne”, in the Breton town of Dinan.
He is an academician of the South West Academy, a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association, Plymouth Society of Artists, Newlyn Society of Artists (1995 – 2021), and an Associate of Penwith Society of Arts.
